Watou

Yesterday I finally went to the summer of poetry in Watou. I've wanted to do it for a few years. This year a friend from Mensa proposed to go together, and five people gladly accepted his invitation. He also proposed to have a picknick at noon out in the fields, which we did.

The concept is very good. Poems are presented in an original way in old houses and farms, combined with matching art. This year most poems were on stone blocklike object, projected on its top surface (about 1m by 2m) from the inside; of some a recording of the poet reading the poem played through speakers. It's really nice to read or hear a poem in the ceiling of an old farm where you can still smell the hay. These places really live, unlike my living room with my TV, PC, stereo and stacks of CDs all over.

I can't say I liked all poems. Some are way too unclear about what they are about, but some people seem to like that. I still like to know and especially feel what it is about. But there were still enough that I did like.

Fudge

Yesterday I bought some fudge from friends who came back from a trip to England. It's my favourite candy, but I have no idea where you could buy it in Belgium, so I have to rely on people who go to England and want to buy it for me (I've seriously thought of buying it on the Internet, or learning to make it myself).

They bought four different kinds, 100 grams of each. I'm already halfway now. I can only stop eating this stuff if my stomach starts to ache!

Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy

Yesterday I went to the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy movie, which opened wednesday. I was a little afraid it might not be that good because it was produced by Americans, but the English style of humor is well preserved, so I really liked the movie. I only knew it from the TV-series I've seen a few years ago. I heard that the radioshow, the book and the TV-series are a little different, maybe the movie is also different.
